Professional Headshots & Portraits

In-Studio Session

My studio is a great place to capture your headshot or portrait. Sessions are 20-45 minutes in length and you may have up to 2 different looks. I have a light gray, dark gray, or white backdrop for you to choose from, to help you achieve a professional look for your website or LinkedIn profile. Portraits are taken with flash lighting.

I offer 3 different session types to meet your specific needs:

20 minute session- 1 outfit, 1 backdrop- $150

30 minute session- 2 outfits, one backdrop- $175

45 minute session- 2 outfits, 2 backdrops- $200

Within 48 hours of the session, you will receive an online proofing gallery of approx. 20-40 images. The session fee includes 2 high-resolution digital images of your choice, with minor retouching (brightening of whites, smoothing of skin, and other minor skin corrections/light blemish removal). Additional retouching can be done for a rate of $50/hr. Additional images may be purchased for $25/ea.

In Office/On Location

I can also provide headshot services in your office or at a location of your choice. This can be indoors or outdoors. Please contact me for pricing, as each situation is unique and costs will depend on the location, whether or not I need to provide studio lighting, and number of people.

What To Wear

This first thing you need to ask yourself is– do I want a classic professional headshot or a more casual headshot?

When choosing your outfit(s) for your headshot, think about how you will want to use it and what makes you feel good. You want your photo to suit the purpose, as well as reflect your personality. If you are comfortable and confident in what you are wearing, it will come through in your images.

Most headshots are taken from the mid-chest area up, but if you’d like a full-body image, or a wider shot that may include your waistline, then be sure to think about coordinating pants and shoes.

Be sure the clothing fits you correctly. You will be standing and sitting during your session, so you will want to make sure your shirt is not boxy, that your suit coat does not pull when it’s buttoned, or that you don’t look like you are swimming in it. Your outfits should be clean and pressed, or if you are going for a more casual look, wrinkle-free. I suggest that you do not wear the clothing to the session, but rather change upon arrival.

If your photo is required for a website or publication, the company may have specific requirements on background and wardrobe colors. Please check with them before arriving to your session.

If you are still unsure about what to wear, feel free to bring a few options to the studio and I would be more than happy to help you choose! Here is a link to a Pinterest board that might help inspire as well–

Men

Black, navy, or gray suits are most commonly worn, with a white shirt underneath. Choose a tie that coordinates with the suit color, but avoid busy patterns, bright/bold colors, or shiny fabric. If you are not wearing a tie, I suggest choosing a dress shirt that is not white. Solid colors are best, but you may also wear a shirt with thin stripes or a subtle pattern. Wear a v-neck undershirt, or none at all.

You may choose to have your photo with and without your suit coat on. This will not be considered an additional look.

If you are not wearing a suit/sport coat, please choose a shirt color that will separate you from the backdrop.

Women

You may also choose to wear a suit coat, with pants or a skirt. Most common colors are black and gray, with a solid-colored blouse. Avoid bright/bold colors or busy patterns. I suggest personalizing your outfit with accessories that enhance the outfit, but are not overwhelming, and do not distract from your face. Be sure that you cannot see undergarments through your top, as this may require extensive retouching or a re-shoot to fix.

You may choose to have your photo with and without your suit coat on. This will not be considered an additional look.

Some women choose to have their hair and make-up done professionally the day of their session, but it is not required. I do suggest applying a little more make-up than you usually wear, and make sure to have a matte appearance to avoid shine from the flash.
